The CPAA is offering its Pilot's Maintenance Training on 25 and 26 October 2008 at Wedderburn Airport. Further details will be provided soon. The courses are limited to 12 participants and we are taking reservations now. Please contact the CPAA to reserve your place.
The CPAA developed and delivered its first Pilot's Maintenance Training course in November 2007. Many owner/pilots are very keen to carry out maintenance on their own aircraft and CASA allows certain maintenance to be carried out by pilots provided that they are trained to carry out the tasks. The CPAA PMT course, designed to train pilots to work on their own aircraft safely and competently, was delivered by Garth Bartlett and Geoff Hirst - LAMEs with over 50 years of experience between them.
The course covers both theory and practical aspects of the maintenance and certification requirements, tools and calibration and hands on training for oil and filer changes, oil filter inspection, spark plug cleaning and testing, wheel and tyre maintenance and topping up fluids.
